COAST GUARD RESCUED LOCALS FROM RISK OF DROWNING

The Lifesavers attached to Sri Lanka Coast Guard Lifesaving Posts Benthota and Gopalapuram public beaches saved eight locals during successful rescue operations from 02th to 04th March 2023.

While drowning at sea, three males and five females aged between 26 to 33 were rescued by Coast Guard rescuers at the lifesaving posts Benthota and Gopalapuram public beaches. The expeditious response by skilled Sri Lanka Coast Guard lifesavers managed to save these local males and females from drowning despite the heavy current in the area.

So far in 2023, Sri Lanka Coast Guard lifesavers attached to 16 life-saving posts around the country have rescued 41 invaluable lives including 12 foreigners in several successful rescue attempts.
