PIRITH CHANTING CEREMONY HELD AT SRI LANKA COAST GUARD HEADQUARTERS TO COMMEMORATE OF THE 13TH ANNIVERSARY

The Sri Lanka Coast Guard Headquarters organized a pirith chanting ceremony followed by almsgiving on 10th March 2023 in view of the 13th anniversary of the Sri Lanka Coast Guard.

This meritorious event has been organized by the Director General of the Sri Lanka Coast Guard, the Commanding Officer SLCG Rohana, all officers and the Coastguard persons at Coast Guard Headquarters. Followed by the Pirith chanting ceremony, the almsgiving was arranged for 20 Buddhist monks. The Director General Sri Lanka Coast Guard, Rear Admiral Pujitha Vithana and his spouse, Regional Director Southern Region, Regional Director Western Region, Directors, coastguard personnel and their families attended the event.

Meantime, the Coast Guard’s Northern Region, Eastern Region, Western Region and Sri Lanka Coast Guard Ship Suraksha also arranged an array of religious activities to celebrate the 13th anniversary. A Buddhist religious activity (Bodi puja) at Tissa temple Kankasanthurai, Hindu religious activities at Munayan Valaw Murugan Kovil, Myliddy, Islam religious activities at Cod Bay Mosque and Bodi puja on board the coast guard ship Suraksha were conducted in parallel to the main event at CGHQ.
