The Lifesavers attached to Sri Lanka Coast Guard Lifesaving Post Hikkaduwa public beach saved a foreigner during a successful rescue attempt on 15th March 2023.
A 63-year-old Russian male was rescued by Coast Guard rescuers at the lifesaving post at Hikkaduwa public beach whilst drowning and dragging away by currents.
The swift response by skilled Sri Lanka Coast Guard lifesavers managed to save this foreigner’s life despite the sudden currents forming in the areas.
So far in 2023, Sri Lanka Coast Guard lifesavers attached to 16 life-saving posts around the country have rescued 48 invaluable lives including 15 foreigners in several successful rescue attempts.
