SRI LANKA COASTGUARD CONDUCTED AN AWARENESS PROGRAMME FOR GATEWAY COLLEGE RAJAGIRIYA

A one-day lifesaving training camp for students of Gateway College Rajagiriya was conducted on 01^st April 2023 at the Sri Lanka Coast Guard Life Saving Training School (LSTS), Balapitiya. The session was organized with the aim of raising awareness within the children's living environment, to emphasize the importance and the social aspect of knowing lifesaving skills among school students.

Twenty-seven students along with three teachers participated in this training programme and they highly valued the contribution of SLCG in conducting this awareness programme for the students. Basic first aid and CPR training, use of firefighting equipment and beach safety and aquatic emergency response awareness are included in the session.

The Officer in Command and instructors at LSTS offer hands-on experience to emphasize the significance of life-saving and first-aid training, as well as enhance students' fundamental response abilities to appropriately address emergency situations.
