COAST GUARD RESCUED FOREIGNERS FROM DROWNING

On March 31th 2023, five foreigners were rescued by the Sri Lanka Coast Guard Lifesavers stationed at the Hikkaduwa, Mirissa and Benthota public beaches Lifesaving Posts in a successful rescue operation.

Three Russians (two females and male) aged 60, 42 and 30 years old at the Mirissa and Benthota public beach, two Belarus females aged 33 and 34-year-old at Hikkaduwa and Benthota beach were at risk of drowning and being pulled away by currents was rescued by the Coast Guard rescuers.

Despite the sudden formation of strong currents in these areas, the skilled Sri Lanka Coast Guard lifesavers were able to provide a swift response and successfully saved these foreigners.

Since the beginning of 2023, the Sri Lanka Coast Guard lifesavers stationed at 16 life-saving posts across the country have successfully rescued a total of 64 individuals, including 27 foreigners, in various rescue operations.
