COAST GUARD RESCUED TWO LOCALS AND SIX FOREIGNERS FROM DROWNING

The Lifesavers attached to Sri Lanka Coast Guard Lifesaving Posts Mirissa and Panadura public beaches saved two locals and six foreigners during a successful rescue attempt on 13th April 2023. The group included two local males aged 66 and 45, two UK female teenagers aged 11, one Australian female teenager aged 14, one Thailand female aged 29, one Swiss male aged 36 and, one male from the USA aged 47.

The swift response by skilled Sri Lanka Coast Guard lifesavers managed to save these locals and foreigners despite the sudden currents forming in the area.

So far in 2023, Sri Lanka Coast Guard lifesavers attached to 16 life-saving posts around the country have rescued 77 invaluable lives including 34 foreigners in several successful rescue attempts.
