COAST GUARD RESCUED TWO LOCALS FROM DROWNING

The Lifesavers attached to Sri Lanka Coast Guard Lifesaving post at Mirissa public beach saved two locals during a successful rescue attempt on 16th April 2023. At the beachfront, 26 and 25-year-old local males who were at risk of drowning and being pulled away by currents were rescued by the Coast Guard on duty rescuers stationed at the lifesaving post.

The prompt action taken by proficient lifesavers of the Sri Lanka Coast Guard resulted in the rescue of the locals, even though unexpected currents had emerged in the vicinity.

So far in 2023, Sri Lanka Coast Guard lifesavers attached to 16 life-saving posts around the country have rescued 81 invaluable lives including 36 foreigners in several successful rescue attempts.
