FOUR FOREIGNERS WERE RESCUED FROM DROWNING BY THE COAST GUARD ON the 19th and 21st of APRIL

On 19thApril 2023, the father (32 Years), mother (29 Years) and two years old kid from England were saved from drowning and being carried away by currents at Hikkaduwa beach by the Lifeguards attached to the Sri Lanka Coast Guard Lifesaving post. The prompt and skilled actions of the SLCG rescuers, who were stationed at the lifesaving post, resulted in the successful rescue of the whole family despite unexpected currents in the area.

Subsequently, a Polish male, aged 34, was rescued from drowning and being swept away by strong currents at Mirissa public beach on April 21, 2023. The Sri Lanka Coast Guard (SLCG) Lifesaving post stationed lifeguards who swiftly and efficiently carried out the rescue mission, saving the foreigners’ life. Despite the challenging and unforeseen conditions caused by the currents, the SLCG rescuers' prompt and skilled actions ensured a successful outcome.

In the year 2023, the SLCG Lifeguards at 16 different life-saving posts around the country have saved a total of 87 lives, including 42 foreigners, in various rescue operations.
