SUCCESSFUL COMPLETION OF MARITIME SKILLS TRAINING PROGRAMME FOR PERSONNEL FROM SLCG, SLN, SL POLICE

The Maritime Skills Training programme conducted by the International Criminal Investigative Training Assistance Programme (ICITAP) which functions under the Department of Justice of the United States with the collaboration of the Embassy of US in Sri Lanka was successfully completed at Sri Lanka Coast Guard (SLCG) Headquarters, Mirissa from 01st to 12th May 2023.

A total of 27 participants from the SLCG, Navy and Police attended the training programme which covered the areas of Basic Law Enforcement, Maritime Counternarcotic Training, Small Team Tactics, Investigative Techniques, Drug Identification, boarding procedures and small team planning. The programme offered comprehensive knowledge and practical training for the trainees leading to enhancing the law enforcement capacities of the participating agencies.

The closing ceremony was held at SLCG Headquarters on 12 th May 2023. Attaché of ICITAP and US Embassy Mr John Gollogly, Programme Coordinator of the US Embassy Ms Niroshini Raju, Instructors from Maritime Response Team-West, Lead Coordinator Joint Interagency Task Force west of US, Deputy Director General and Director Training SLCG along with Regional Director Southern Region attended the ceremony.
