LIFE-SAVING TRAINING SCHOOL ADMITTED ANOTHER MOMENTOUS TRAINING

A special lifeguard Basic training course was commenced under the directives of the Director General Sri Lanka Coast Guard to officials of the Department of Wildlife Conservation (DWC) on 08th May 2023. Twenty-seven field officers including one female candidate from the Marine Resources Management unit of DWC joined the programme to enhance their aquatic emergency response skills which were highly essential to perform their job in a professional and benign mode.

The inaugural ceremony of the lifeguard basic training course was held on 08th May 2023 at Sri Lanka Coast Guard Life Saving Training School (LSTS) Balapitiya. Representatives of DWC Assistance Director (Training) Mr Vishantha Mendis, Assistance Director (Maritime) Ms Sanjeewani Rajasinha, Regional Director Southern Region Sri Lanka Coast Guard, Commander Asanka Manuratne and Officer in Command LSTS Balapitiya Lieutenant Commander Janaka Udagearachchi participated for the ceremony.

The DWC is the pioneer government institution responsible for the protection of wildlife resources of the country including entire land and sea territories and also bears the legal authority to conserve the network of wildlife protection areas.
