SRI LANKA COAST GUARD RESCUED TWO FOREIGNERS FROM DROWNING

The Lifesavers attached to Sri Lanka Coast Guard Lifesaving Post Mirissa public beach saved two foreign females during a successful rescue attempt on 18th May 2023. At the Mirissa public beach, two Russian females aged 23 years’ old who were at risk of drowning and being pulled away by currents were rescued by the Coast Guard rescuers stationed at the lifesaving post.

The prompt and skilled actions of the SLCG rescuers, who were stationed at the lifesaving post, resulted in the successful rescue of the victims despite unexpected waves and currents in the area.

In 2023, the SLCG Lifeguards at 16 different life-saving posts around the country have saved 92 lives, including 47 foreigners, in various rescue operations.
