COAST GUARD RESCUED A FOREIGN COUPLE FROM DROWNING

The Lifesavers attached to Sri Lanka Coast Guard Lifesaving Post Hikkaduwa public beach saved a foreign couple during a successful rescue attempt on 13th May 2023. At the Hikkaduwa public beach, a 53 and 42-year-old Russian male and female who were at risk of drowning and being pulled away by currents were rescued by the Coast Guard rescuers stationed at the lifesaving post.

The swift response by skilled Sri Lanka Coast Guard lifesavers managed to save these foreigners despite the rough sea condition in the area.

So far in 2023, Sri Lanka Coast Guard lifesavers attached to 16 life-saving posts around the country have rescued 89 invaluable lives including 44 foreigners in several successful rescue attempts.
