SRI LANKA COAST GUARD RESCUED TWO LOCALS FROM DROWNING

The Lifesavers attached to Sri Lanka Coast Guard Lifesaving Post Benthota public beach saved two locals during a successful rescue attempt on 29th May 2023. At the Benthota public beach, two local males aged 15 years’ old who were at risk of drowning and being pulled away by currents were rescued by the Coast Guard rescuers stationed at the lifesaving post.

The prompt and skilled action of the SLCG rescuers, who were stationed at the lifesaving post, resulted in the successful rescue of the victims despite unexpected waves and currents in the area.

In 2023, the SLCG Lifeguards at 16 different life-saving posts around the country have saved 97 lives, including 50 foreigners, in various rescue operations.
