COAST GUARD RESCUED TWO LOCALS AND TWO FOREIGNERS FROM THE RISK OF DROWNING

The Lifesavers attached to Sri Lanka Coast Guard Lifesaving Posts Mirissa and Gopalapuram public beaches saved two locals and two foreigners during a successful rescue attempt on 21st June 2023.

Two local males aged 18 & 11 years old and two Russian males aged 47 & 17 years old were rescued by Coast Guard rescuers attached to lifesaving posts Mirissa and Gopalapuram beach respectively whilst drowning at sea. The swift response by skilled Sri Lanka Coast Guard lifesavers managed to save these lives from drowning despite the heavy current in the area.

So far in 2023, Sri Lanka Coast Guard lifesavers attached to 16 life-saving posts around the country have rescued 105 invaluable lives including 54 foreigners in several successful rescue attempts.
