COAST GUARD RESCUED FOUR LOCALS FROM RISK OF DROWNING

The Lifesavers attached to Sri Lanka Coast Guard Lifesaving Posts Mount Lavinia public beach and temporarily established Sella Katharagama point 02 saved four locals during a successful rescue attempt on 26th June 2023.

Local female and male devotees (aged 23 & 17 years old) and two local males (aged 18 years old) were rescued by Coast Guard rescuers whilst at risk of drowning at sea and Menik River respectively. The expeditious response by skilled Sri Lanka Coast Guard lifesavers managed to save these locals successfully.

So far in 2023, Sri Lanka Coast Guard lifesavers attached to 16 life-saving posts around the country have rescued 112 invaluable lives including 54 foreigners in several successful rescue attempts.
