COAST GUARD RESCUED FOUR CIVILIANS WHILST DROWNING IN MT LAVINIA SEAS

The Sri Lanka Coast Guard lifeguards stationed at the Mt. Lavinia lifesaving post demonstrated their exceptional lifesaving skills by rescuing four local males, aged between 16 to 18 years old, who were drowning while bathing in the sea on 11th July 2023. Swiftly responding to the emergency, the lifeguards successfully retrieved the individuals from the water and provided them with immediate first aid assistance.

Following the initial aid provided, three of the rescued individuals were safely handed over to their respective family members. Recognizing the need for additional medical attention, one person was transferred to the Kalubowila hospital for further treatments.Throughout the year 2023, these dedicated personnel have showcased their expertise by rescuing a total of 141 lives, including 58 foreigners, in various successful rescue operations.It is important to note that incidents like these highlight the crucial role that the Sri Lanka Coast Guard lifeguards play in protecting the lives of people who visit coastal areas. Their commitment to preserving life and maintaining the safety of both local and foreign nationals is commendable.
