VIGILANT COAST GUARD LIFESAVERS RESCUE AN ENGLISH BOY AND TWO LOCAL FEMALES

Sri Lanka Coast Guard lifesavers attached to Mirissa and Gopalapuram, Trincomalee lifesaving posts rescued an English teenager and two local females whilst drowning and dragging towards the sea during two successful rescue attempts on 20th July 2023.

A 16 years old boy from England was having a sea bath at Mirissa beach in the afternoon and was drowning and dragging towards the sea due to heavy sea currents. The lifesavers who are attached to the Marissa lifesaving post observed the incident and took immediate action to rescue the boy by showing their professionalism.

In the evening Sunday two ladies aged 44 and 15 were rescued whilst dragging to the sea due to strong currents when they were having a sea bath. They were in danger of drowning in the treacherous sea. The skilled lifesavers who are attached to Goplapuram lifesaving post responded properly and took necessary action to rescue two ladies.

During the year 2023, Sri Lanka Coast Guard lifesavers who are attached to 16 strategically located lifesaving posts in the coastal belt have showcased their expertise by rescuing a total of 154 invaluable lives, including 59 foreigners in a number of successful rescue operations.
