The inaugural ceremony of the second maritime skills training programme was held on 10th July 2023 at Sri Lanka Coast Guard Headquarters, Mirissa. Attaché of the international criminal investigative training assistance programme of the US Embassy, Mr. John Gollogly, programme coordinator of the US Embassy, Miss. Niroshini Raju, instructors from maritime response team-West and Director General of Sri Lanka Coast Guard, Rear Admiral Pujitha Vithana, and other senior officials from the SLCG attended the ceremony.
A total of 30 participants from the SLCG, Navy and Police attend to the program from 10th to 21st July 2023, and the training covers the areas of basic law enforcement, maritime counter-narcotic training, small team tactics, investigative techniques, drug identification, boarding procedures, and small team planning.
This training programme will provide a great opportunity for the law enforcement agencies of Sri Lanka to develop their capabilities in maritime law enforcement. Furthermore, this is another significant training event facilitated by SLCG Head Quarters with the purview of joint capacity building among law enforcement agencies in the country.
