COAST GUARD RESCUED THREE FOREIGNERS FROM RISK OF DROWNING

The Lifesavers attached to the Sri Lanka Coast Guard (SLCG) Lifesaving post Hikkaduwa public beach saved three foreigners during a successful rescue attempt on 26th July 2023.

Three Hong Kong nationalist (males) aged 37, 38 and 39 years old were in imminent danger of drowning and dragged away due to heavy currents in the treacherous sea. The SLCG lifesavers at Hikkaduwa Beach responded swiftly and efficiently to the emergency showcasing their expertise and commitment to their life-saving duties despite the challenging conditions and rescued these three surfer bathers.

This recent rescue marks another remarkable achievement for the SLCG in 2023. Throughout the year, the dedicated lifesavers attached to 16 life-saving posts around the country have rescued 164 invaluable lives including 62 foreigners in several successful rescue attempts.
