SLCGS JAYESAGARA CELEBRATED 01ST ANNIVERSARY

On the 23rd July 2023, Sri Lanka Coast Guard joyously commemorates the 1st anniversary of SLCGS Jayesagara. This momentous occasion not only signifies the ship's enduring strength and resilience but also acknowledges its invaluable contributions to safeguarding the serene seas and enhancing the nation's maritime defence and security.

SLCGS Jayesagara, initially built in 1983 by the renowned Colombo Dockyard, and was commissioned to the Sri Lanka Navy fleet on the 09th December 1983. With the passage of time, the ship was transferred to the Sri Lanka Coast Guard fleet and was officially commissioned on the 23rd July 2022. Throughout its existence, ship has played a pivotal role in defending Sri Lanka's territorial waters and protecting maritime interests.

To honour this remarkable milestone, celebrations were organized by the Commanding Officer of SLCGS Jayesagara, Commander (C) Rangana Athukorala along with the dedicated ship's company. The occasion witnessed traditional naval events such as the Commanding Officer's Division and Badakhana. During the celebrations, the commanding officer addressed the ship's company, acknowledging their unwavering commitment and dedication to their duty. Meanwhile, in conjunction with the 1st anniversary, a beach cleaning programme was conducted on 08th July 2023 at Sandybay beach, Trincomalee and inter-ship cricket tournament was held on 15th July 2023 at Trincomalee.
