COAST GUARD RESCUES A TEENAGER FROM DROWNING

Sri Lanka Coast Guard lifesavers deployed at lifesaving post - Mount Lavinia rescued a local male during a successful rescue attempt on 29^th July 2023.

The victim was 18 years old and he has visited to Mount Lavinia beach in the evening for swimming. The skilled Coast Guard rescuers have observed the teenager was drawing and dragging away by heavy sea currents. The vigilance and the immediate responses of the lifesavers ensured preventing a potential tragedy and the safety of the drowning boy.

During the year 2023, these dedicated personnel have showcased their expertise by rescuing a total of 165 lives, including 62 foreigners, in various successful rescue operations. These commendable efforts exemplify the unwavering dedication and commitment of Coast Guard lifesaving personnel towards preserving valuable lives in and around beaches.
