COAST GUARD LIFESAVERS RESCUE A CHINESE

A Chinese male was rescued by Sri Lanka Coast Guard lifesavers attached to Hikkaduwa Lifesaving Post from drowning on 07^th August 2023.

The victim was 37 years old and he has visited to Hikkaduwa beach in the evening to have a sea bath. When he was bathing, suddenly he was started drowning and dragging away due to sea currents. The skilled Coast Guard lifesavers observed it and responded quickly to escape him from drowning and return the victim safely to ashore. The lifesavers of the Sri Lanka Police who were attached to Hikkaduwa beach also assisted for this operation.

So far, Sri Lanka Coast Guard has rescued total of 172 lives, including 68 foreigners within the year 2023 in a number of successful rescue attempts.
