COAST GUARD RESCUES ANOTHER MALE

Sri Lanka Coast Guard lifesavers attached to Mount Lavinia Lifesaving Post rescued a local whilst drowning on 13th August 2023.

A local male who was 41 years of age visited Mount Lavinia beach for a sea bath in the evening. When he was bathing, suddenly started drowning and dragging him away due to sea currents. The vigilant Coast Guard lifesavers quickly responded and took action to rescue the victim and bring him ashore safely. The person was handed over to his relative after being given first aid.

This is the sixth person rescued by the Sri Lanka Coast Guard from Mount Lavinia beach within two consecutive days of the weekend.

So far in 2023, Coast Guard lifesavers have rescued 178 invaluable lives including 68 foreigners in several successful rescue attempts.
