COAST GUARD RESCUED ANOTHER MALE

On 27th August 2023, Sri Lanka Coast Guard lifesavers stationed at Mount Lavinia Lifesaving Post successfully rescued an individual who was in distress and at risk of drowning.

A young adult male, aged 18, visited Mount Lavinia beach in the evening with the intention of taking a swim in the sea. While engaged in bathing, an unforeseen incident occurred wherein the individual began to experience difficulties in the form of drowning, subsequently being pulled away by the force of oceanic currents. The diligent members of the Coast Guard promptly and effectively responded to the situation, taking immediate action to rescue the individual and safely brought him to shore. The individual was handed over to their family members' care following the administration of initial medical assistance.

So far in 2023, Coast Guard lifesavers have rescued 194 invaluable lives including 78 foreigners in several successful rescue attempts.
