SRI LANKA COAST GUARD RESCUED A RUSSIAN NATIONAL IN THE HIKKADUWA SEA

Sri Lanka Coast Guard lifesavers at the Hikkaduwa lifesaving post successfully rescued a Russian nationality from drowning while bathing at the Hikkaduwa beach on 11th September 2023. The 57-year-old woman was submerged and carried away by ocean currents. The Coast Guard life savers responded promptly to ensure her safety and mitigate any life-threatening risks. The Coast Guard has rescued 197 individuals, including 79 foreign nationals, in 2023, stationed at 16 strategically significant beaches across the island, demonstrating their dedication to saving lives.
