COAST GUARD RESCUES TWO LOCAL YOUTHS

The Sri Lanka Coast Guard lifesavers rescued two local males from drowning at Galle Face and Mirissa beaches on 09th September 2023. The first incident involved a 20 years old boy who was saved from strong sea currents at Galle Face beach in Colombo. The second incident occurred in the evening at Mirissa beach, where a 21 years old youth was also at risk of drowning. The Coast Guard lifesavers acted promptly and successfully brought both individuals safely to shore. Therefore, these incidents emphasize the need for caution and precautions for general public when engaging in activities at Western and Southern seas due to unfavorable sea conditions caused by the South Western monsoon.

It also mentions that the Sri Lanka Coast Guard has rescued a total of 196 lives, including 78 foreigners, in 2023.
