SRI LANKA COAST GUARD RESCUES TWO LOCALS AND AN INDIAN NATIONAL

The lifesavers of Sri Lanka Coast Guard rescued three males including an Indian at Trincomalee, Mount Lavinia and Mirissa beaches on 24th September 2023.

Early hours of the day, it has rescued a 39 years old local male from Gopalpuram, Trincomalee by the lifesavers attached to Gopalpuram Lifesaving Post. He was drowned and dragged away suddenly while he was bathing at beach.

In the afternoon, another 31 years old local was dragging towards the sea due to heavy sea currents at Mount Lavinia beach when he was bathing. The Coast Guard lifesavers attached to Mount Lavinia Lifesaving Post took prompt actions to save the person and brought him ashore. Being the victim showed that he was not well, he was transferred to Kalubowila Teaching Hospital after providing first aid.

Meantime, the lifesavers attached to Mirissa Lifesaving Post rescued 56 years old Indian national on the same day evening. He was drowning at Mirissa beach when he was having a sea bath.

It is commendable that Sri Lanka Coast Guard has rescued 207 invaluable human lives in year 2023 so far including 86 foreign nationals.
