COAST GUARD LIFESAVERS RESCUE A RUSSIAN COUPLE

Two Russian were rescued by Sri Lanka Coast Guard lifesavers attached to Mirissa Lifesaving Post whilst drowning on 04th October 2023 in a successful rescue attempt.

A male and a female Russian who were in 41 and 37 years of age have visited to Mirissa beach in the evening to enjoy and have a sea bath. However, they have dragged away due to heavy sea currents and observed that they are at risk of drowning. The vigilant Coast Guard lifesavers who were attached to Mirissa Lifesaving Post immediately responded and rescued the couple from a possible tragic danger and brought them ashore safely.

It is commendable that, Sri Lanka Coast Guard lifesavers who are attached to 16 lifesaving posts have rescued 209 invaluable lives including 88 foreigners during the year 2023 up to now.
