RESCUED A LOCAL YOUTH BY THE COAST GUARD LIFESAVERS

Sri Lanka Coast Guard lifesavers attached to Hikkaduwa Lifesaving Post rescued a local youth whilst drowned at the Hikkaduwa on 28^th October 2023

In the evening, the youth who was 21 years of age, visited Hikkaduwa beach for a sea bath. The vigilant lifesavers observed the incident of drowning due to suddenly formed sea currents and have taken prompt action to save the youth from possible danger..

During the year 2023, the lifesavers of Sri Lanka Coast Guard have rescued 217 invaluable lives including 96 foreign nationals by 16 lifesaving posts deployed around the island.
