COAST GUARD RESCUED SIX FOREIGNERS FROM DROWNING

On 3rd November 2023, the dedicated Lifesavers stationed at the Mirissa public beach Lifesaving Post of the Sri Lanka Coast Guard successfully rescued six foreign individuals.

At Mirissa public beach, a 28-year-old German woman and a 25-year-old man found themselves in a perilous situation, at risk of drowning and being swept away by strong currents. Coast Guard rescuers positioned at the lifesaving post promptly saved the victims. Later that same evening, four American individuals, comprising three males and a female aged 46, 11, 07, and 14 years old were also rescued while enjoying their time in the sea.

This remarkable display of courage and unwavering dedication to the safety of those in the sea once again underscores the role of these Coast Guard personnel as genuine guardians of the coastline.

In the year 2023, the Sri Lanka Coast Guard Lifesavers, serving at 16 life-saving posts across the country, have successfully conducted numerous rescue missions, saving a total of 227 lives, including 105 foreign nationals.
