COAST GUARD RESCUED A LOCAL AND FIVE FOREIGNERS FROM DROWNING

On 4th November, 2023, the committed lifeguards stationed at Mirissa public beach Lifesaving Post of the Sri Lanka Coast Guard effectively rescued a local and five foreign individuals from the peril of drowning.

During six separate rescue operations at Mirissa public beach, the lifeguards saved the following individuals; a 24-year-old local male, a 65-year-old Australian male, a 63-year-old Australian female, two Russian females aged 21 and 14 and one 30-year-old Canadian female. This impressive demonstration of bravery and unwavering commitment to sea safety once again highlights the vital role of these Coast Guard personnel as genuine protectors of the coastline.

Throughout the year 2023, the Sri Lanka Coast Guard Lifesavers, serving at 16 lifesaving posts nationwide, have conducted numerous successful rescue missions, resulting in the salvation of 233 lives, including 110 foreign nationals.
