COAST GUARD RESCUED FIVE FOREIGNERS FROM DROWNING

On 05th November 2023, the dedicated Lifesavers stationed at Mirissa public beach Lifesaving Post of the Sri Lanka Coast Guard successfully rescued five foreign individuals.

At Mirissa public beach, a 28-year-old Russian man and same aged two Russian women, a 48-year-old Australian woman and a 10 year-old Girl found themselves in a perilous situation, at risk of drowning being swept away by strong currents. Coast Guard rescuers positioned at the lifesaving post promptly saved the victims.

This remarkable display of courage and unwavering dedication to the safety of those in the sea once again underscores the role of these Coast Guard personnel as genuine guardians of the coastline.

In the year 2023, the Sri Lanka Coast Guard Lifesavers, serving at 16 life-saving posts across the country, have successfully conducted numerous rescue missions, saving a total of 238 lives, including 115 foreign nationals.
