SRI LANKA COAST GUARD RESCUES 310 HUMAN LIVES IN THE YEAR 2023

Sri Lanka Coast Guard (SLCG) lifesavers are attached to 16 life-saving posts around the island were managed to save 310 invaluable lives in the year 2023 which is an increment of 136 than the previous year.

The significant factor is that 170 out of 310 rescued lives were the foreigners. It is almost 55% of the total rescues. Most of the rescuees were Russians and SLCG rescued 73 Russians in the year 2023. It is 43% of the total rescues of foreigners. SLCG also has rescued 11 Germans, 10 English, 07 Australians and many other nationals.

Within a year, SLCG has never reached 300 margin of life rescues early. This is a recorded number within a year in SLCG history.

SLCG has deployed 16 lifesaving posts at selected crowded beaches around the island. It is highly commendable that SLCG managed to rescue 2115 total lives including 950 foreigners so far.
