SRI LANKA COAST GUARD MANAGED TO SAVE 18 HUMAN LIVES WITHIN THE FIRST TWO WEEKS OF 2024

Sri Lanka Coast Guard (SLCG) lifesavers rescued 18 personnel including 06 foreigners whilst drowning at Mirissa, Hikkaduwa, Balapitiya and Gopalpuram (Trincomalee) public beaches during the first two weeks of the year 2024.

The SLCG lifesavers managed to save 12 local persons along with 06 foreigners, (02 each from Russia, Poland and Kyrgyzstan) in several successful rescue attempts during the period.

The lifesavers of Sri Lanka Coast Guard are attached to 16 lifesaving posts established at the crowded, public beaches around the island.

SLCG saved 310 invaluable human lives including 170 foreigners in year 2023 and has rescued total of 2133 by today. These statistics showcased SLCG lifesavers’ professionalism through supreme dedication, high vigilance and unparalleled skillfulness towards their duty.
