TWO INDIAN COAST GUARD SHIPS ARRIVE IN GALLE

Indian Coast Guard Ship (ICGS) Samarth and Abhinav arrived at the port of Galle on a goodwill visit on 27th February 2024. The two visiting ships were welcomed by the Sri Lanka Coast Guard in compliance with customs and traditions.

ICGS Samarth is a 105-meter-long Offshore Patrol Vessel commanded by Deputy Inspector General P Pradeep Kumar whereas ICGS Abhinav is a 50-meter-long Fast Patrol Vessel commanded by Commandant (JG) Prabhat Kumar.

The Commanding Officers of the two ships along with Indian Defence Attaché in Sri Lanka Captain M Anand paid a courtesy call to the Deputy Director General Sri Lanka Coast Guard, Commodore YR Serasinghe at the Sri Lanka Coast Guard Headquarters, Mirissa, Matara.

The Coast Guard personnel from both nations participated in various interaction sessions such as joint Coast Guard exercises, beach cleaning programmes, friendly Volleyball matches and a reception at SLCG HQ, Mirissa. which aimed at fostering cooperation and enhancing professional knowledge. Both ships are scheduled to depart from Galle on 1st of March 2024 and arrive at Colombo port.
