COMMANDER (G) THARAKA KOSWATTAGE ASSUMED COMMAND OF THE SRI LANKA COAST GUARD SHIP JAYESAGARA

Commander (G) Tharaka Koswattage assumed duties as the 03rd Commanding Officer of the Sri Lanka Coast Guard Ship Jayesagara on 07th March 2024, which is the second largest ship of the Sri Lanka Coast Guard. Before taking over the command as the Commanding Officer of SLCGS Jayesagara, Commander (G) Tharaka Koswattage was at the Eastern Command Headquarters, discharging duties as the Command Operations Officer.

The Change of Command Ceremony was graced by the Director Training of Sri Lanka Coast Guard, Captain (N) Charitha Gunawantha. The former Commanding Officer of the ship, Commander (C) Rangana Athukorala formally handed over the duties to his successor after a colourful ceremony at the Naval Dockyard.

The proceeding of the event came to closure after an inspection of divisions by the new Commanding Officer. Commander (C) Rangana Athukorala has been appointed as the Fleet Training Officer (Major Vessels) III of the Flag Officer Commanding Naval Fleet in SLN.
