FRENCH AMBASSADOR TO SRI LANKA AND MALDIVES CONDUCTS OFFICIAL VISIT TO SRI LANKA COAST GUARD HEADQUARTERS

On March 25, 2024, His Excellency Jean-François Pactet, the Ambassador of France to Sri Lanka and Maldives, undertook an official visit to the Sri Lanka Coast Guard (SLCG) Headquarters- Mirissa.

Upon arrival, Ambassador Pactet was warmly received by Rear Admiral Pujitha Vithana, the Director General of SLCG. A comprehensive briefing was provided to the ambassador by the Director General, covering the operational scope, future prospects and existing challenges faced by the Sri Lanka Coast Guard. Both parties engaged in discussions regarding the significance of fostering maritime cooperation between two nations and explored areas of mutual interest.

As part of the visit the Sri Lanka Coast Guard lifesavers showcased a life-saving drill conducted at Mirissa beach. Ambassador Pactet had the opportunity to witness the endeavours of SLCG's Turtle Conservation Project with a special focus on the conservation efforts for turtle hatchlings. Ambassador Pactet commended the dedication exhibited by SLCG personnel in safeguarding marine biodiversity.

Commodore YR Serasinghe, the Deputy Director General of SLCG was also present during this significant occasion.
