LIEUTENANT COMMANDER(N) DANANJAYA JAYASINGHE ASSUMED COMMAND OF THE SRI LANKA COAST GUARD SHIP SAMARAKSHA

Lieutenant Commander(N) Dananjaya Jayasinghe assumed duties as the 08th Commanding Officer of the Sri Lanka Coast Guard Ship (SLCGS) Samaraksha on 14th June 2024, which is one of the oil spill response Fast Patrol Vessels of the Sri Lanka Coast Guard. Before taking over the command as the Commanding Officer of SLCGS Samaraksha, Lieutenant Commander(N) Dananjaya Jayasinghe performed duties as Officer in Command of the Information Fusion Centre and Air Observer under the Staff of Director Naval Operations (Sri Lanka Navy)

The Regional Director Western Region of SLCG, Captain(G) Kelum Marambage, graced the change of command ceremony. The former Commanding Officer of the ship, Commander(H) Bhanu Abeygunawardhana formally handed over the duties to his successor after a colourful ceremony at the parade ground of SLNS Rangalla.

The proceeding of the event came to closure after an inspection of divisions conducted by the new Commanding Officer, Lieutenant Commander(N) Dananjaya Jayasinghe. Former Commanding Officer, Commander(H) Bhanu Abeygunawardhana has been appointed as the staff of Director Naval Operations at the Institute of National Security Studies of Sri Lanka under the Ministry of Defence.
