SUCCESSFUL OPERATION IN MARAWILA YIELDS 975 KILOGRAMS OF KENDU LEAVES

In a significant combined operation carried out by the Sri Lanka Coast Guard Station Chilaw & Marawila Police, 975 Kilograms of Kendu leaves were apprehended during the early morning hours approximately 0145 hrs on 23rd July 2024. The successful seizure involved the diligent efforts of two nos of FGDs and OBMs, underscoring the commitment of the Coast Guard to combat illegal activities.

Based on information received from Intelligence staff of the Sri Lanka Coast Guard Station Chilaw initiated the operation in the Marawila area. The swift and coordinated action of the FGDs led to the interception and subsequent seizure of the substantial haul of kendu leaves under Sri Lankan law.

The apprehended items were handed over to the Marawila Police for investigation and legal proceedings. The Sri Lanka Coast Guard remains resolute in its mission to deter and prevent illicit activities, ensuring the safety and security of the maritime domain.
