COAST GUARD PERSONNEL APPREHENDED ILLEGALLY TRANSPORT KENDU LEAVES

Based on information revealed by the Intelligence staff of the Sri Lanka Coast Guard Station Chilaw, a combined operation was carried out with Thoduwawa Police on 21st July 2024 and apprehended three FGD with 1910 kilograms of Kendu leaves.

The operation was executed at approximately 0745 hours in the Thoduwawa Bay area whilst transferring 1910 kilograms of Kendu leaves to the shore using 3 No’s of FGDs. The apprehended items along with the Kendu leaves handed over to the Thoduwawa Police station for further investigation and legal proceedings. The Sri Lanka Coast Guard (SLCG) through its intelligence network has been watchful in monitoring and curbing such illicit activities.
