DRIED SHARK FISH ALONG WITH FINS APPREHENDED AT DIKOVITA HARBOUR

On the 06th August 2024, Coast Guard personnel attached to FMP Dikovita arrested/apprehended six fishermen who were found in possession of 34.9 kg of dried shark fish and fin onboard the fishing vessel IMUL-A-0467-CHW. The arrest took place during routine arrival formalities, showcasing the Coast Guard’s dedication to uphold maritime law enforcement and protecting endangered marine species.

Thorough inspection was carried out by the Coast Guard team on arrival of the Fishing vessele and discovered the illegal shark products. Fishermen along with the seized dried shark fish and fins were promptly handed over to the FI Dikovita for further investigation.

This operation underscores the critical role of the Coast Guard in safeguarding marine ecosystems from illegal fishing activities.
