SLCG PERSONS APPREHENDED SHARK CARCASSES AT WELLAMANKARA FISHERY HARBOUR

The Coast Guard persons attached to the Fishing Monitoring Point (FMP) Wellamankara apprehended 11 carcasses of Oceanic White Tip sharks(without fins) while unloading the fishing harvest of IMUL-A-0064-KMN fishing trawler at Wellamankara Fishery Harbour on 16^th August 2024 around 0430 hrs. The total 530kg of shark carcasses were carefully concealed among the rest of the fish catch and was able to recover after a thorough inspection of the Coast Guard persons attached to FMP Wellamankara.

The apprehended items along with the arrested 06 fishermen and the IMUL-A-0064-KMN fishing trawler handed over to the fishery inspector of Wellamankara Fishery Harbour.
