As a part of the goodwill visit of Indian Coast Guard (ICG) ships Vaibhav and Abhiraj to Sri Lanka, the commanding officers of the vessels paid a courtesy call on the Director General of the Sri Lanka Coast Guard (SLCG), Rear Admiral Rajapriya Serasinghe, at the SLCG Rear Headquarters on Monday, 23rd December 2024. This meeting represented a significant step towards fostering closer collaboration between the two maritime agencies.
During the discussion, officials focused on strengthening bilateral ties and addressing shared maritime challenges, particularly in the Indian Ocean region. Key topics included maritime security, search and rescue operations, pollution response, and the importance of operational support. Both parties emphasized the value of joint training exercises, such as the planned SAGAREX, in ensuring maritime border safety and security.
