FRENCH REGIONAL CIVIL PROTECTION AND CRISIS MANAGEMENT ATTACHÉ CALLS ON DIRECTOR GENERAL SLCG

A delegation led by Mr. Jean-Michel DUMAZ, the French Regional Civil Protection and Crisis Management Attaché, based in Singapore, visited the SLCG Rear Headquarters and paid a courtesy call to the Director General of the Sri Lanka Coast Guard (SLCG), Rear Admiral Y.R. Serasinghe, on Thursday, 09 January 2025. He was accompanied by his intern, Lieutenant Camille VALENCIENNE and some other officials.

The visit aimed to introduce the EU Regional project "Global Port Security," which seeks to bolster risk management and incident response capabilities for port and maritime disasters across major Asian ports, including Colombo Port.

During the meeting, Rear Admiral Y.R. Serasinghe, Director General of the SLCG, emphasized the organization’s dedication to enhancing oil spill response capabilities in Sri Lanka's major ports. Discussions explored the feasibility of strengthening the SLCG's capabilities and capacities through collaboration within the EU project.

The visit concluded with a cordial exchange of mementos, symbolizing goodwill and the potential for future cooperation in maritime security and disaster response.
