The Sri Lanka Coast Guard (SLCG) took part in the 77th National Independence Day celebrations at Independence Square, Colombo, on 4th February 2025. Held under the theme "Let's join the national renaissance," the event was graced by President Anura Kumara Dissanayake, military leaders, and other dignitaries.
Marching alongside the Sri Lanka Navy, Army, Air Force, and Police, the SLCG contingent proudly represented the service’s commitment to maritime security and law enforcement. Lieutenant Commander Dhammika Kumara led the Coast Guard division, with Lieutenant Commander Kalhara Gunarathna carrying the Coast Guard flag and Chief Petty Officer DK Wijerathna serving as the Chief Drill Instructor.
By participating in the Independence Day parade, the SLCG reaffirmed its role in safeguarding Sri Lanka’s waters and supporting national security. As the nation progresses, the Coast Guard remains dedicated to its mission of ensuring a secure and prosperous maritime environment.
