The collective effort of Coast Guard personnel attached to Life-Saving Posts Mirissa, Hikkaduwa, Moragolla, and Balapitiya recovered 2052 numbers of Sea turtle eggs from places close to their natural habitat during the period from 01st to 06^th February 2023. Recovered eggs being conserved at the locations near respective lifesaving posts. Meanwhile, SLCG released 72 and 172 sea turtle hatchlings into the sea from Mirissa and Balapitiya during the same period.

Commander (C) Rangana Athukorala assumed duties as the 2^nd Commanding Officer of the Sri Lanka Coast Guard Ship Jayesagara on 31^st January 2023, which is the second largest ship of the Sri Lanka Coast Guard. Before taking over the command as the Commanding Officer of SLCGS Jayesagara, Commander (C) Rangana Athukorala was at the Coast Guard Headquarters, discharging duties as the Senior Staff Officer (Operations).
