At the beachfront, 26 and 25-year-old local males who were at risk of drowning and being pulled away by currents were rescued by the Coast Guard on duty rescuers stationed at the lifesaving post.

At the Hikkaduwa public beach, a 27 and 28-year-old Russian male and female who were at risk of drowning and being pulled away by currents were rescued by the Coast Guard rescuers stationed at the lifesaving post.
