Sri Lanka Coast Guard rendered assistance to bring ashore an ill fisherman and transferred him to the hospital for treatment on the night of 16^th January 2023. The fisherman was suffering from chest pain while aboard a local multiday fishing vessel that was operating off the Beruwala area.

Meanwhile, the SLCG released 197 sea turtle hatchlings into the sea from Mirissa and Hikkaduwa during the same period.
