Sri Lanka Coast Guard conducts awareness programmes focusing general public, fishing community and school children especially on life saving aspects, basic waterborne survival techniques & first aid as a collective social responsibility. Further fishing community is educated on the use of safety gears onboard fishing vessels, importance of adhering to weather warning & water safety survival methods at sea & inland waters. Furthermore fisherman are also educated on the impact/ consequences of drug trafficking, Illegal Unreported and Unregulated (IUU) fishing, illegal human smuggling/human trafficking and Trans boundary trafficking regularly.

As an action partner of “National Plan on Drowning Prevention and Water Safety” awareness programmers being conducted to general public since 2019 in Respective Coast Guard Regions.
