Lieutenant Commander (G) Kasun Prageeth Assumes Command of Sri Lanka Coast Guard Ship Samudraraksha

Lieutenant Commander (G) Kasun Prageeth officially assumed duties as the 8th Commanding Officer of the Sri Lanka Coast Guard Ship Samudraraksha on 5th October 2024. The SLCGS Samudraraksha, a vital asset in oil spill response, plays a key role in the maritime environmental protection efforts of the Sri Lanka Coast Guard. Prior to this appointment, Lieutenant Commander (G) Kasun Prageeth served as the Administrative Officer at SLNS Nipuna.

The Change of Command Ceremony was graced by the Senior Staff Officer (Training) of the Sri Lanka Coast Guard, Commander (N) Chandana Kumara. During the ceremony, Lieutenant Commander (N) Prasanna Eriyawa formally handed over duties to his successor in a dignified event held at the SLNS Dakshina.

The proceedings concluded with an inspection of divisions by the newly appointed Commanding Officer. Lieutenant Commander (N) Prasanna Eriyawa has now been appointed as the Staff Officer (Operations) of the Sri Lanka Coast Guard.
